Press Released -DEMANDS OF NEPALI INDIGENOUS ETHNICS PEOPLE LIVING IN USA
To, Mr. Ban Ki Moon
Secretary General
United Nation, UN Headquarters, NY USA
Memo:- Demands of Nepali Indigenous ethnics People living in USA.
Your Excellency,
On behalf of the Global Federation of Indigenous peoples of Nepal, USA and all indigenous peoples living in USA., We are deeply concern about the recent political changes and political decisions taking place in Nepal, including constitutional assembly election to be held in near future, based on the fundamental human rights, civil rights, humanitarian ground of neutrality, equality impartiality, every Nepali should have the equal opportunity and equal right to vote and should have equal access to the national resources regardless where they live what their culture language tradition, religion and ethnicity are in the past years, the indigenous ethnic people op Nepal, including Dalits and Madhesi that constitute about 72% of the Total population, were marginalized and deprived of access to the national resources, such as opportunity to administrative and security service, scientific/Technological and academic decision making positions, political decisions making positions, we strongly concern the century long tradition and suppressive attitude and self-countered culture of the privileged groups of Nepal, to the indigenous ethnic people living mostly in rural communities of Nepal based on race, culture, tradition, ethnicity, language, belief and religious and political creed that prevailed throughout almost more than two centuries. Unfortunately even after the restoration of democracy, such suppression prevailed in form of tricky attitude, favoritism, cultural prejudice and conspiracy against them to their own homeland to en extent that thousands of them compelled to continue group out to foreign countries for daily livelihood. At the current context, indigenous ethnic Nepali Diasporas worldwide is generation a substantial renitence and revenue for the country of origin (Nepal). That should have been spent for the welfare and development activities of the indigenous ethnic community across the country, but unfortunately not yet considered seriously. Having experienced to unfair previous social-Economic and political context, we demand a guarantee of human rights of following 7 points.
1. All Nepali living abroad should have equal access and opportunity to vote during the coming constitutional assembly.
2. All Nepali living abroad (regardless of newly adopted citizenship) should have equal access and rights to live in Nepal, and invest money in any field including business and industries or to carry out social service activities without additional financial burden and discrimination.
3.There should be proportional electoral system including in parliament member (MP Election) and constituency election based on region and people in the given locality.
4.There should be proportional participation even in central government including upcoming interim government based the national population.
5. There should be regional or provincial autonomy in the local government in terms of local development and social service.
6. Secularism should the implemented in practice in the country as per the last parliamentary decision.
7. Open boarder policy must be discontinued by bilateral agreement as early as possible in order to prevent criminal activities, girls and woman trafficking, vandalism and unauthorized migration across the boarder.
Thank you very much
Sincerely
